Somatics Against Diet Culture
Embodiment is essential in developing a body liberation practice
We live in a world steeped in diet and wellness culture that teaches all of us that some bodies are valuable and desirable and others are not. It is easy to internalize these messages and develop relationships to food and body that are less than choiceful.
However, we could also say that the behaviors that come with our troubled relationship with food and body are incredibly wise in a culture of fatphobia and other forms of oppression. In fact, they have probably helped us to survive. In this highly experiential 12 week somatic healing group we will practice together to understand, feel, and heal toward this embodied wisdom. Participants can expect to feel themselves deeply and do deep, transformational work toward healing their relationship to food and body. GROUP IS FACILITATED BY BROOKE STEPP, MS, CN, LMHC. BROOKE IS MULTIRACIAL WITH BLACK AND WHITE ANCESTRY. THEY ARE QUEER, NONBINARY AND FEMME. BROOKE LIVES WITH INVISIBLE ILLNESS. THEY BENEFIT FROM THIN PRIVILEGE.
