From Gatekeeper to Gate Opener:
A Letter Writing Workshop for Therapists and Other Medical Providers

Have you been wanting to live into your values around supporting trans and nonbinary communities?

In this two and a half hour workshop we will learn, grow and practice together to do just that! Historically, medical providers have served as gatekeepers for folks receiving the life and gender affirming care we need and deserve.  If we want to show up and support trans people we must critically look at our own role in this history. In a safe, nonjudgmental environment you will have the space to ask questions, and explore what it means to be a gate opener for trans and nonbinary folks.

You will leave with clarity about:
  • language to use and not use
  • types of gender affirming care and surgery
  • what's important to ask and what's not necessary
  • WPATH vs. informed consent models
  • the process of actually writing a letter
  • how your gender experience shows up in the room
